Piercing Aftercare
Proper aftercare is an important part of helping your new piercing heal comfortably and beautifully.
🫧Clean Morning + Night
Always wash your hands before touching or cleaning your piercing🧼
Clean your piercing twice daily, morning and night using the recommended piercing aftercare solution💧
When cleaning the piercing, you can either spray directly on the piercings (front & back) or spray a cotton swab and clean it front & back. When using a cotton swab, make sure you use a new swab for each piercing👂
✋Hands Off
Avoid touching your piercing except when cleaning it🙅
Do not spin, rotate, twist, or play with your jewelry. This can slow the healing process down.
🚫Avoid Harsh Products
Keep these products away from your fresh piercing:
Alcohol
Hydrogen peroxide
Bactine
Ointments
Harsh soaps or cleansers
Makeup directly around the piercing
Hairspray, perfume, or lotions
Keep your routine simple + gentle🤍
💤Protect It While Sleeping
Try your best not to sleep directly on your new piercing.
Sleep on your opposite side, on your back, or use a travel or piercing pillow so your ear rests inside the opening😴
Pressure and friction can cause unnecessary irritation.
💇Hair + Everyday Items
Keep hair pulled away from your piercing whenever possible.
Be extra careful with:
🎧Headphones
🧢Hats
📲Phones
👓Glasses
👗Clothing + towels
🪮Hairbrushes
Try to prevent anything from snagging, rubbing, or putting pressure on your piercing.
💦Water + Swimming
Showers are good🚿 Allow clean water to gently run over the piercing and carefully dry the area afterward.
During early healing, avoid submerging your fresh piercing in:
🏊Pools
🛀Hot tubs
🚣Lakes
🌊Rivers or other bodies of water
💎Keep Your Starter Jewelry In
Leave your original starter jewelry in for the recommended healing period.
Even when your piercing looks healed on the outside, the tissue inside may still be healing.
Do not remove or change your jewelry early.
If your jewelry feels too tight, too loose, uncomfortable, or looks like it may be sinking into the ear, please contact us.
📅Schedule Your Downsizing Appointment
WHY DOWNSIZING MATTERS💎
Your initial jewelry is intentionally longer to allow room for normal swelling during the early healing process. Once the swelling has gone down, that extra length is no longer needed.
Downsizing means replacing the initial post with a shorter, properly fitted post once your piercing has healed enough to safely do so.
When should I downsize?
⏰Every piercing heals differently. Your piercer will assess your piercing and determine when the swelling has decreased enough for a shorter post.
❎Please do not change the jewelry yourself during the early healing period. Downsizing should be performed by a qualified professional using properly sterilized jewelry.
✨Your piercing isn't finished healing just because the swelling is gone.
🌸Downsizing is not the same as being fully healed. Your piercing may still be healing internally even when it looks and feels great on the outside.
💯Professional check-ins are an important part of the healing process. We recommend having your piercing assessed so we can determine whether downsizing is appropriate and help ensure your jewelry continues to fit correctly.
🌼What Can Be Normal
During the beginning stages of healing, you may experience:
🌸Mild redness
✨Slight swelling
🤍Tenderness
🌡️Mild warmth
💧Light crusting
Everyone heals differently, so healing experiences and timelines can vary.
