A little preparation goes a long way in making your piercing experience smooth, safe, and stress-free. Here’s how to get ready for your appointment
1. Stay Hydrated & Eat a Meal
Make sure you eat a good meal and drink water before your appointment. Being hydrated and fed helps prevent feeling lightheaded or faint.
2. Avoid Alcohol, Caffeine, and Blood Thinners
Skip alcohol, excessive caffeine, aspirin, and other blood-thinning medications (unless prescribed by a doctor) for at least 24 hours before your appointment. These can increase bleeding and slow healing.
If you arrive under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Luxe reserves the right to deny you service and charge 100% of the appointment fee.
3. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we will not pierce you. It is your responsibility to inform your piercer if you are pregnant.
4. DO NOT apply numbing cream
Numbing creams can change the texture and elasticity of the skin, making it harder to pierce cleanly. This can lead to a rougher puncture, a less precise placement, and slower healing.
5. Rescheduling/Refund Policy
Due to health and safety regulations, we do not offer refunds on piercings services once the service has started.
If you're unsure about your piercing, or suspect you child may be nervous, please reach out for added time, reassurance, and relaxed experience.
One reschedule is available if notified at least 48 hours in advance, but if notified in less than 48 hours another deposit will be required to reschedule.
6. Piercing Room Policy
To ensure your safety and the best possible experience, photos and video recording of the piercing process are not permitted unless taken by the piercer. Once your piercing is complete, you’re welcome to take photos or videos.
You may bring up to two guests for support. During the piercing, guests must remain behind the designated area and avoid watching. This allows the piercer to stay fully focused and maintain a calm, sterile environment. The piercer will let everyone know when it’s safe to approach again.
7. Children’s Consent/Policy
The parent/s attending must be in the piercing room to witness the piercing procedure. No siblings or other guests are permitted.
If a child is visibly upset, resistant, or does not want the piercing, we will not proceed with the piercing. I believe in making this experience positive and comfortable for every client, especially children.
Taking Care of your Piercings
Please note: the more steps you follow, the better results you will get!
General Care for All Piercings
1. Clean your piercing 2-3 times daily with a sterile saline solution.
Wash your hands prior to cleaning the piercing.
When cleaning the piercing, you can either spray directly on the piercings (front & back) or spray a cotton swab and clean it front & back. When using a cotton swab, make sure you use a new swab for each piercing.
2. Avoid touching your piercing except when cleaning it.
3. Do not spin, rotate, twist, or play with your jewelry. This can slow the healing process down.
4. Avoid makeup, lotions, or other products near the piercing site.
5. Do not remove or change your jewelry until the piercing is fully healed. When you do change it out, be sure they are high quality. Jewelry is available for purchase at Dazzled or a Jewelry Change appointment can be booked to change out the jewelry.
6. Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and bodies of water during the healing process.
7. Avoid harsh soaps, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or antibacterial ointments
8. Avoid going without jewelry, especially the first 6 months. The hole may close very quickly.
9. Do not sleep on your piercings, if needed use a travel pillow or piercing pillow to sleep with your ear in.
10. Earlobe piercings have an average healing time of 3-4 months.
Downsizing Jewelry
1. When piercings are originally pierced a longer post is used to account for swelling.
2. After swelling goes down, it is important to return to Luxe to downsize the jewelry for continued proper healing.
3. Decreases movement & friction, less likely for it to get snagged.
4. Avoiding downsizing jewelry could cause:
Friction Bumps on the front and or back of the piercing
Piercing can start to shift the angle of the piercing, making the piercing sit at an angle.
Healing is a journey, not a race. Following these guidelines will help you heal safely and protect your new piercing.
It’s normal for piercings to bleed slightly at first this usually stops within a few minutes. Light pressure around the area can help slow bleeding. If bleeding is excessive or doesn’t stop, please seek medical attention.
Some swelling is also normal right after your piercing. The jewelry selected for you allows room for swelling. You can use a warm compress to help bring swelling down comfortably, avoid ice.
Consult a physician at the first sign of infection.
Remember, healing times can vary. If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to contact us!
